Steph's Family Photo Session on the Farm // Jansen, NE
Let me just start off by saying this session was a dream!
Steph and her kiddos looked wonderful and were full of smiles! The sky was beautiful and the sun was a-shinin’ so I knew we were gonna make some magic happen!
Steph grew up on a farm, and her little boy, Oliver, is also very much a country kid! What better place to photograph her family than at the farm she was raised on!? Oliver had so much fun showing off all the animals, especially their favorite horse and the chickens! Of course the barns made for beautiful backdrops, especially with the way the light was hitting just right! At the very end of the evening, we went down the road to a local lake (that I’m sure Steph has many memories at) to take a few photos of little miss Clara in the prairie grass. All in all, I think it made for a really memorable photo session for Steph and her family and the photos turned out every bit as beautiful as I’d hoped!
When you book a session with me, I like to take the time to get to know you and your personal style before choosing a location. I typically send a short questionnaire to get a good feel for your vision and go from there.
Here are few questions you might ask yourself when choosing a backdrop for you family photos:
What is my personal style? If you prefer sleek and modern, then I suggest we shoot in a downtown setting or at an architecturally interesting building. If you love a more boho feel, then perhaps an open field or abandoned building would suit you. For the country folks, you can’t go wrong with a farm or a dirt road!
What are some of my fondest memories with my family? If your crew loves spending your days on the water, a river or lake might be a fun way to go! If you prefer to spend your time together visiting museums and eating in fancy restaurants, a more urban feel sounds like a good fit!
